With the intent of empowering our students to become visionary change makers, the MUN Club of M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth organised its 4th Annual Model United Nations Conference on 5 and 6 August 2023.

For the first time in the history of Intra-School MCKV MUN, students participated in multi-committee sessions comprising the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM) and the International Press Conference (IPC). Before the grand event, an orientation programme was organised on 28 July 2023 where Prathit Singh, an MCKV alumnus, addressed our students.

Spanning two days, the MCKVIE campus became a seat for a wide range of discussions starting from the impact of globalisation on Indian economy to the steps undertaken towards global nuclear disarmament and even, stereotypes and biases in media representation. The Chairperson of UNGA, AIPPM and IPC, Sreejit Dey, 12A, Nishant Sharma, 12C and Utkarsh Raj of 11A,  respectively, deftly moderated the entire discussion in a constructive way. They were ably supported by their Vice-Chairpersons.

In the grand opening ceremony, Mr Biswajit Majumdar, Headmaster, encouraged our participants. Ms Mallika Mukherjee, Principal, formally presented the United Nations Secretary General, Lakshaya Sharma, 11A, with the gavel. As the committees were declared open, with the resounding banging of the gavel, almost 100 delegates engaged in conscious debate. The detailed research work and engrossed involvement in national and international political analysis by our delegates were truly commendable.

The conference came to a conclusion with the congratulatory speech of our Headmaster, Mr Biswajit Majumdar. Rajat Soni of 12 D was declared as the Best Delegate of AIPPM, Shivans Bhura of 12C has been adjudged as the Best Delegate of UNGA and Kushal Jain of 9A was the Best Delegate of IPC of the conference.

Transcending from being a mere simulation, MCKV MUN 2023, truly emerged as an invaluable platform for nurturing the right skills to thrive as 21st century leaders and global citizens.
